KUCCPS Opens Late Degree Applications for KCSE 2022–2025 Candidates, Offers Instant University Placement

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened a special late application window for degree programmes, giving eligible KCSE candidates from 2022 to 2025 another opportunity to secure university admission through instant placement.

The placement agency announced on Friday, July 17, that the exercise targets students who attained a minimum grade of C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations but were not placed in universities during the normal placement process.

In what KUCCPS described as a first, successful applicants will receive immediate placement once their applications have been processed, allowing them to join degree programmes without waiting for another placement cycle.

Inviting eligible candidates to seize the opportunity, the placement body said:

“Did you score a C+ and above in KCSE and missed university placement? For the first time, KUCCPS is allowing late applications for degree programmes. Do not remain behind, apply now!”

The new application window is expected to benefit hundreds of qualified students who previously missed out on university admission despite meeting the minimum entry requirements.

To submit an application, candidates are required to log in to the KUCCPS student portal using their KCSE index number, password and other required credentials.

Applicants should then select the Late Degree Application option and follow the instructions to choose their preferred degree courses before submitting the application.

KUCCPS has urged all eligible students to complete the process before the application window closes, saying the initiative is aimed at ensuring more qualified learners gain access to university education.

The latest announcement comes barely a week after KUCCPS released the placement results for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Speaking on July 8, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba revealed that 293,869 students had successfully secured placement in various higher learning institutions across the country.

Of these, 202,133 students were admitted to degree programmes at universities.

Another 28,246 secured places at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), while 500 students were placed in Diploma in Law programmes.

The placement exercise also saw 765 students admitted to Kenya Utalii College, with a further 875 joining secondary Teacher Training College (TTC) programmes.

The latest late application exercise is expected to increase the number of students joining universities by giving another chance to qualified KCSE candidates who missed the initial placement process.
