Salasya to Pay 100 Bloggers to Boost His 2027 Presidential Bid on X

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya is on a digital charm offensive as he eyes the presidency in the 2027 General Election. On Wednesday, the flamboyant legislator announced plans to personally pay 100 bloggers to help bolster his presence on X (formerly Twitter).

In a candid appeal shared online, Salasya admitted he was struggling to gain traction on the platform and needed extra support to push his political message.

“Looking for 100 bloggers to be paid directly by me. Just text me your number and I will definitely call back so as to help push my agenda on X. I am doing badly on X,” he wrote.

Salasya declared his presidential bid on April 28, making him one of the earliest entrants in the race to succeed President William Ruto. The lawmaker has since launched nationwide tours, engaging voters and popularizing his candidature.

He credits social media for propelling him into politics, revealing that during his MP campaign, he relied heavily on platforms like X and Facebook due to financial constraints.

“I did not have money. I used social media so much. I love social media. It gave me a platform to be known by my people that I was aspiring to be an MP,” he previously shared.

Salasya now hopes to replicate that digital momentum on a larger scale, this time with the backing of a structured team of online communicators.

“Fellow Kenyans, after deep reflection, wide consultations, and careful consideration of the state of our nation, I, Peter Kalerwa Salasya, the Member of Parliament for Mumias East Constituency, hereby declare my intention to vie for the Presidency of the Republic of Kenya in the 2027 General Election,” he said.

Salasya also revealed plans to launch a new political party later this year and called on Kenyans from all walks of life — especially the youth, women, workers, and entrepreneurs — to join his movement.

His approach signals a growing trend among politicians leveraging digital platforms to build influence and mobilize grassroots support.

As the political temperatures begin to rise ahead of 2027, Salasya’s unconventional strategy is one to watch.
