Kenya Embassy Announces New Jobs in US – Full List of Vacancies and Requirements

The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Washington, D.C. has announced a range of employment opportunities for qualified applicants, including positions for drivers, clerks, administrative assistants and consular staff.

In a vacancy notice issued on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, the Embassy said the positions would be offered on two-year fixed-term contracts.

According to the notice, the contracts may be renewed depending on satisfactory performance, operational requirements, continued funding and the applicable terms and conditions of service.

“The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Washington, D.C. invites applications from suitably qualified, competent and highly motivated individuals to fill the following vacant positions,” the Embassy said.

The advertised vacancies comprise four Driver positions, three Clerk positions, one Receptionist/Telephone Operator position, one Administrative Assistant position, three Consular Assistant positions and one Accounts Assistant position.

Driver vacancies

Applicants seeking the Driver positions are required to have a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.

They must also have at least five years of experience working as a professional chauffeur or driver and hold a valid U.S. driver’s licence with an excellent driving record.

Previous experience working at a diplomatic mission, international organisation or comparable institution will be an added advantage.

Clerk positions

The Embassy is seeking three Clerks who will be required to have a high school diploma or equivalent qualification and at least two years of relevant work experience.

Applicants should also have strong ICT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience working in a diplomatic mission, international organisation or similar institution will be considered an advantage.

Receptionist/Telephone Operator

One position is available for a Receptionist/Telephone Operator.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent qualification, together with at least two years of experience in reception, customer service or office administration.

The Embassy also requires applicants to demonstrate strong ICT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Administrative Assistant

The Embassy is also recruiting an Administrative Assistant.

Applicants for the position must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.

They must have at least two years of relevant experience and demonstrate excellent ICT skills.

Consular Assistant positions

Three Consular Assistant positions have been advertised.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent qualification and at least two years of relevant experience in a similar field.

They must also possess strong ICT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Accounts Assistant

One Accounts Assistant position is available for candidates with a Diploma in Business, Accounting, Finance, Business Management or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.

Applicants must have at least two years of relevant professional experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or financial administration.

Proficiency in ICT, including Microsoft Office Suite, is also required.

General requirements

The Embassy said applicants for the advertised positions must meet specific eligibility and documentation requirements.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents or hold valid authorisation to work in the United States in accordance with applicable immigration laws.

Applicants must also provide valid police clearance, a certificate of good conduct or equivalent background-clearance documentation.

Those applying are required to submit an updated Curriculum Vitae outlining their academic qualifications, professional experience and competencies. The CV must include details of at least two professional referees.

Applicants are also required to attach copies of their Green Card or valid work authorisation, police clearance or certificate of good conduct, academic and professional certificates, testimonials and other relevant supporting documents.

The Embassy said successful candidates would receive remuneration and benefits in accordance with its Local Staff Terms and Conditions of Service.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. Those invited for interviews will be required to present their original academic and professional certificates, testimonials and other relevant documents.

The Embassy also cautioned applicants against canvassing, stating that any form of canvassing would result in automatic disqualification.

It further said applications submitted after the deadline would not be considered and reserved the right to verify the authenticity of information and documents submitted by candidates.

Interested applicants are required to clearly indicate the position they are applying for and submit their applications together with all supporting documents by Monday, October 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. EDT.
