Stivo Simple Boy Announces 2027 MP Ambitions and Unveils 10-Point Kasarani Manifesto

Kenyan rapper and digital creator Stivo Simple Boy has announced plans to make the jump from entertainment into elective politics, revealing that he is considering a bid for Parliament in the 2027 General Election.

The Freshi Barida hitmaker said he was weighing possible MP bids in three Nairobi constituencies — Kasarani, Lang’ata and Kibera — as he prepares to launch his political career.

Stivo made the announcement during an interview on The Manuu Show on October 3, 2026.

“By the way mimi nataka to vie for MP, either in Kasarani, Lang’ata or Kibera in 2027,” he said.

The announcement represents a change from the political ambitions he outlined in 2025, when he said he intended to seek a Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in Kibra.

At the time, Stivo said he wanted to begin his political journey at grassroots level, highlighting youth unemployment and limited access to bursaries among the issues he hoped to tackle.

His latest declaration, however, signals a more ambitious parliamentary route, with Kasarani now appearing to be gaining prominence in his plans.

Stivo yet to decide political party

Despite publicly declaring his intention to seek an MP seat, the musician said he had not yet settled on which political party, if any, he would use to contest the election.

Asked about his party of choice, Stivo replied: “Chama sijaamua.”

He also suggested that he could potentially contest as an independent candidate.

“Labda inaweza kuwa kibinafsi,” he added.

The rapper indicated that his political plans were moving beyond social media statements and towards a campaign on the ground.

Asked when he intended to begin campaigning, he responded: “Tunaanza next week.”

He also suggested that pressure from members of the public had played a role in his decision to enter politics.

“Next week… but watu wengi nataka nisimame,” he said.

Kasarani takes centre stage

Two days after his initial announcement, Stivo appeared to place greater emphasis on Kasarani.

On October 5, he addressed residents of the constituency in a social media post, unveiling what he described as a 10-point manifesto under the title “From the People, For the People.”

“My Kasarani people tuende nalo. Wakati wa kazi umewadia,” Stivo said.

The proposed agenda places considerable emphasis on youth empowerment, employment, the creative economy, housing, healthcare and transparency.

Among his proposals is a plan to provide young people with startup funding of between KSh50,000 and KSh200,000 to establish or expand businesses, creative ventures and other income-generating activities.

He also proposed allocating at least 60 per cent of constituency projects to youth-owned businesses, while creating opportunities for young people without previous government-contracting experience.

“At least 60% of constituency projects to be given to youth-owned businesses. No more ‘tender cartels’,” he stated.

Creative economy at heart of manifesto

Given his background in music and digital content creation, Stivo has also placed the creative sector prominently in his proposed political agenda.

He has proposed establishing a constituency creative economy hub featuring studios, equipment, training and opportunities to connect creatives with markets.

The proposed hub would cater for musicians, filmmakers, TikTok creators, photographers, designers and others working in Kenya’s rapidly expanding creative economy.

His manifesto also proposes fully funded training, internships and job placements for young people.

“Fully funded training, internships and placements for the youth. Learn a skill, get a job, or start a hustle,” he said.

Stivo proposes performance-based MP salary

One of the more striking proposals in his manifesto concerns the remuneration of an elected MP.

Stivo said he would support a performance-based approach under which an MP’s delivery would be regularly assessed by constituents.

“MP SALARY MUST BE PERFORMANCE-BASED. If I don’t deliver, I don’t take the full salary. Public scorecard every 3 months,” he said.

He also rejected the traditional practice of using small cash handouts to attract people to political rallies.

“I will not give KSh500 for a rally. We invest in real opportunities that earn you KSh50,000+ monthly,” Stivo stated.

Housing, healthcare and transparency

Housing also features prominently in the proposed agenda.

Stivo said he would push for low-cost rental housing and youth housing projects in Kasarani, Lang’ata and Kibera.

“Push for low-cost rental units and youth housing projects in Lang’ata/Kasarani/Kibera. No more rent stress,” he said.

On healthcare, his proposals include upgrading local clinics, providing free maternal care, expanding mental-health support and establishing a well-equipped constituency hospital.

He also promised greater public scrutiny of constituency finances, saying all funds, projects and contracts should be made available to residents.

“All constituency funds, projects and contracts will be public. No ghost projects, no family deals,” he stated.

Another proposal calls for the creation of a Youth Council that would have a role in decisions concerning constituency projects, bursaries and funding priorities.

From music to politics

Stivo’s proposed political transition comes as a number of Kenyan entertainers have sought to turn their public profiles into political influence.

His own political ambitions are not entirely new. In 2025, he announced plans to contest the Kibra MCA seat, saying he wanted to address challenges facing young people and improve access to opportunities and bursaries.

His latest announcement would represent a significant step up from a county assembly contest to a parliamentary race.

For now, Stivo has yet to formally confirm which constituency he will contest, which party — if any — will back his bid, or whether he will ultimately run as an independent.

But with Kasarani residents now directly addressed in his latest manifesto, the constituency appears to be emerging as a leading option as the rapper prepares for what could be his first major electoral contest in 2027.
