Government Makes Fresh Appointments to State Agencies and County Boards
The government has announced a fresh wave of appointments across ministries, state agencies and county governments, with Cabinet Secretaries and governors filling vacancies, reconstituting boards and strengthening leadership in key public institutions.
The appointments, published in a Kenya Gazette Notice dated July 10, 2026, take immediate effect unless otherwise specified and affect several national government agencies alongside county institutions.
New Members Appointed to NGAAF and NEMA Boards
The Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services appointed Gerald Kimathi Ithibua and Dr. Jane Jepkorir Barus as members of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) Board.
The two will serve three-year terms as the government continues efforts to enhance oversight and implementation of affirmative action programmes.
The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry also named Sheila Chepkorir Kosgei to the Board of Directors of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), where she will equally serve a three-year term.
Trade Ministry Names 14 Weights and Measures Inspectors
The Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry appointed 14 Weights and Measures Inspectors tasked with enforcing legal metrology requirements, product standards and consumer protection laws across the country.
The inspectors are expected to strengthen compliance with trade regulations while safeguarding consumers against unfair business practices.
Co-operatives Ministry Revises Committee Membership
The Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development amended an earlier Gazette Notice by revoking the appointments of Jackie Muia and Roselyne Chepkirui from a working committee.
They have been replaced by Michael Nyaga, Esther Njeri, Alfred Matiangi and Geoffrey Mureithi, who now join the committee following the latest changes.
Hassan Joho Establishes Community Mining Committee
Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho established a Community Development Agreement Committee for the Kishushe Community in Taita Taveta County.
The committee will oversee implementation of a community development agreement linked to mining operations undertaken by Karsan Samruddha Resources Kenya Limited, with the aim of ensuring community interests are represented during the project’s implementation.
County Governments Make Fresh Leadership Appointments
Several county governments also announced new appointments through the latest Gazette Notice.
In Nairobi County, Governor Johnson Sakaja appointed Declerk Shivanji Kiarie and Mary Wairimu Kimani as members of the Dagoretti South Sub-county Liquor Committee after revoking the appointments of two previous members.
In Narok County, Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu appointed John Sayiaton Kitita as Chairperson of the Narok County Public Service Board alongside several new board members, each serving six-year terms.
Meru Governor Rev. Isaac Mutuma M’Ethingia appointed Stephen Nturibi Etirikia as the County Executive Committee Member for Legal Affairs, Public Service Management and Administration.
In Turkana County, Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai appointed Priscilla Ewoi Ateyo to the Lodwar Municipality Board.
Meanwhile, Kisii Governor Paul Simba Arati constituted the Kisii County Rural and Urban Affordable Housing Committee and appointed Architect Peter Asati Moturi as its non-executive chairperson.
Leadership Changes Aim to Strengthen Public Institutions
The latest appointments reflect ongoing efforts by both the national and county governments to strengthen governance, improve institutional leadership and ensure key public bodies remain fully operational through the appointment of qualified officials.
