KNEC Sets July 30 Deadline for Schools to Upload KPSEA and KJSEA Assessment Scores
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has directed all schools to complete the uploading and verification of School-Based Assessment (SBA) scores for candidates sitting the 2026 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) by July 30, 2026.
In a notice issued on Thursday, July 2, the examinations council said it was verifying the submission of SBA scores already captured by schools and urged heads of institutions to confirm that every eligible candidate had been included.
“All Heads of Institutions are therefore expected to log into their school CBA portals to confirm the status of uploading of SBA scores for their 2026 KPSEA and KJSEA candidates. This should be done by 30th July 2026,” the statement read in part.
The latest directive comes as KNEC steps up preparations for the 2026 national examination cycle. The council recently announced the recruitment of assessors for KCSE oral and practical examinations, inviting qualified applicants to submit their applications before the July 11 deadline.
KNEC said the opportunity is open only to secondary school teachers and college tutors, who will receive on-the-job training before taking up the assessment roles.
The examinations body has also released fresh guidelines for candidates intending to sit the 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination without a Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) certificate. Those candidates will be required to take the KCSE Qualifying Test in September 2026.
Earlier, KNEC announced that all registered Senior School assessment centres had been activated on its portal to support the registration of Grade 10 learners for School-Based Assessment.
School principals were instructed to access the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) portal to complete the registration process and use the new universal centre code generated through the Senior School portal, together with their assigned username and password, when logging into the system.
After accessing the portal, principals are required to register every Grade 10 learner for School-Based Assessment as KNEC continues preparations for the implementation of assessments under the Competency-Based Curriculum.
