US Releases DV Lottery 2026 Results – How to Check Green Card Status Online
Kenyans who applied for the United States 2026 Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery, commonly referred to as the Green Card Lottery, can now check their application status following the official release of results on Saturday, May 3.
According to a statement from the US Department of State, results for the DV-2026 program will be accessible online from May 3, 2025, through September 30, 2026. Applicants are required to use the unique confirmation number issued during registration to check their status.
“DV-2026 Entrants may enter their confirmation information through the link below starting at noon (EDT) on May 3. Entrants should retain their confirmation number until at least September 30, 2026,” read the announcement.
Kenyans were among thousands globally who applied between October 2 and November 5, 2024, via the official Electronic Diversity Visa (E-DV) website. The US Embassy in Nairobi has urged applicants to check their results solely through the official website and be cautious of fraudsters claiming to provide selection notifications.
“You must remember to check the DV lottery results yourself online using your confirmation number. If your confirmation number is lost, you can retrieve it through a step-by-step process provided on the same site,” the department advised.
Successful entrants will be redirected to a confirmation page with instructions for the next steps in the visa application process. These include:
- Completing the Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application (Form DS-260)
- Submitting required documentation
- Scheduling and attending a visa interview at the US Embassy
However, the Department of State emphasized that selection in the DV Lottery does not guarantee a visa. It only allows candidates to move forward in the application process.
“Selection does not guarantee that you will receive a visa or be issued a Green Card. It simply means you are eligible to apply and proceed with the next steps,” the statement clarified.
The US government also reminded applicants that no notifications will be sent via email or letter. “The Department of State will not contact you by email or post to inform you of your selection. Additionally, no advance payments are required to apply,” the advisory stated.
Successful applicants who complete the process and are granted visas will be eligible to live and work permanently in the United States as Green Card holders.
