University of Nairobi Tops Latest Rankings, Surpasses Kenyatta University
The University of Nairobi (UoN) has been ranked as the best university in Kenya, according to the latest EduRank report, beating its long-time rival, Kenyatta University (KU). The rankings, which assess institutions based on research impact, academic reputation, and international collaborations, place UoN at 805th globally and 8th in Africa.
UoN’s top position is attributed to its strong research output, boasting over 20,000 academic publications and a significant number of citations. The institution also benefits from a rich network of more than 100 notable alumni, including President William Ruto, prominent lawyer James Orengo, and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Kenyatta University and JKUAT Follow Closely
Kenyatta University secured the second position in Kenya, ranking 2,135th globally and 36th in Africa. The university has made remarkable contributions to academia, with 8,541 publications and 85,581 citations. Additionally, KU has produced 16 notable alumni, further solidifying its reputation as a leading higher learning institution in Kenya.
Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) was ranked third in Kenya and 2,613th globally. Known for its strong emphasis on technology and innovation, JKUAT boasts an impressive record of 10,000 academic publications and contributions from its distinguished alumni in various sectors.
Strathmore and Mount Kenya University Make the Top Five
Strathmore University took the fourth spot in Kenya, securing a global ranking of 3,100. The institution is recognized for its academic rigor, with over 1,000 publications and 10,000 citations. Meanwhile, Mount Kenya University (MKU) rounded off the top five, ranking 3,203rd globally, with more than 2,000 publications and 8,435 citations.
