Tragic Road Accident in Nyakach Claims Four Lives, Including Three Pupils

NYAKACH, KISUMU COUNTY – A devastating road accident on the Sondu-Katito road has claimed the lives of four people, including three pupils from Ober Boarding Boys Primary School in Rachuonyo East Sub-County. The accident occurred on Wednesday morning when a matatu carrying students collided with a truck transporting sugarcane.

According to Nyakach OCPD Laurinius Odinga, a matatu conductor was also among the deceased. The impact of the crash left three other students with severe injuries, while six others sustained minor injuries.

Authorities have since towed the wreckage of the matatu to Katito Police Station as investigations into the tragic incident commence. The accident has left families, schoolmates, and the local community in deep mourning, as concerns over road safety continue to rise.

The police have urged motorists to exercise caution, especially on high-traffic routes, to prevent such unfortunate incidents. More updates on the investigation and responses from authorities will follow.
