Ruto’s Motorcade Knocks and Kills Foreigner in Ngong, Nairobi
A foreign national lost his life on Thursday afternoon after being run over by a speeding vehicle in President William Ruto’s motorcade along Ngong Road near the Adams Arcade area. The tragic incident, which has sparked public outrage, occurred while Ruto’s convoy was en route from Lang’ata to Kibra for a project commissioning.
Eyewitnesses reported that the middle-aged male victim was attempting to cross the busy road when he was hit by one of the high-speed vehicles in the presidential convoy. Despite the impact, the motorcade did not stop, leaving many questioning the safety protocols in place during the Head of State’s movements.
Bystanders who rushed to the scene found the man lifeless, his body covered with a cloth as residents gathered in shock. Moments later, a police vehicle arrived, cordoned off the area, and transported the victim’s body to the Nairobi City Mortuary, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted. Authorities have since launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
This incident adds to a growing list of concerns regarding President Ruto’s development tours in Nairobi. Just a day prior, reports emerged of widespread muggings and vandalism in Mathare during Ruto’s visit, with pedestrians and shop owners falling victim to organized criminal activities.
Similarly, on Tuesday afternoon, residents using the Thika Superhighway were harassed and mugged by groups of rowdy youth reportedly attending the President’s event. In response, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched a crackdown, arresting five individuals linked to the thefts along Thika Road. The suspects have since been processed and arraigned, with authorities vowing to track down more culprits involved in the lawlessness.
As investigations continue into the latest fatal accident, Kenyans are calling for more accountability and improved safety measures during presidential motorcades to prevent further tragedies on the roads.
