President Ruto Donates KSh 20M to AIC Fellowship Annex, Defends Church Contributions
President William Ruto has once again defended his donations to churches, reaffirming his commitment to supporting religious institutions despite mounting criticism. On Sunday, March 9, the head of state attended a service at AIC Fellowship Annex in Uasin Gishu, where he contributed KSh 20 million toward the construction of the church.
Speaking to the congregation, Ruto dismissed his critics, stating that those opposing his contributions do not believe in the word of God. He emphasized that his commitment to church donations would not waver, regardless of public opinion.
“Those who are against the word of God and the building of sanctuaries in Kenya will fail. They will not succeed, they will not overcome us. I want to say that in this nation called Kenya, God will be known,” Ruto declared.
The president further stated that his donations are a reflection of his faith and support for the church. He instructed the church leaders to calculate their previous fundraising total, double it, and send him the invoice, assuring them that he would cover the cost.
“I heard you had a harambee last week. Get the total multiplied by two and give me the invoice; that will be my contribution. I will continue giving, and I am not saying whether they like it or not,” he added.
Ruto’s latest donation comes just days after he contributed a similar amount to Jesus Winner Ministry in Roysambu, an act that sparked protests from some Kenyans. The donation to the Roysambu church led to demonstrations under the #OccupyJesusWinner movement, with some questioning the source and intent behind the funds.
Despite the growing debate surrounding his church contributions, President Ruto remains steadfast in his stance, asserting that he will not be deterred by those who oppose his philanthropic gestures towards religious institutions. As the discussion on church donations continues to divide opinions, it remains to be seen how this trend will shape political and religious discourse in the country.
