Police Recruitment 2025: Requirements, Dates and How to Apply

The government has confirmed that 10,000 new police constables will be recruited this year, marking one of the largest exercises in recent times. President William Ruto announced that the recruitment will take place in September 2025, with successful applicants reporting for training on November 17, 2025.

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has assured Kenyans that the process will be transparent, digital, and corruption-free.

How the New Recruitment System Works

For the first time, applications will be submitted online through the official NPSC portal. This reform is designed to eliminate middlemen and ensure only genuine candidates are considered.

Other key measures include:

  • Recruitment exercises ending strictly by 4 pm.
  • Immediate publication of names of successful candidates.
  • Medical examinations to be conducted at police training schools, not local centres.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has cautioned Kenyans against bribery, emphasizing that independent observers—including religious leaders and community representatives—will monitor the exercise.

Requirements for Applicants

To qualify, candidates must have the following:

  • National ID card.
  • Birth certificate.
  • KCSE certificate.
  • Recent passport-size photograph.

Minimum qualifications:

  • KCSE mean grade of D+ (plus).
  • A pass in English or Kiswahili.
  • Age bracket expected to be 18 to 30 years (to be officially confirmed).

Out of the 10,000 slots, 4,000 are reserved for National Youth Service (NYS) graduates, giving them an added advantage.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official NPSC recruitment portal: www.services.npsc.go.ke/recruitment/Auth/register.php.
  2. Create an account using your ID number.
  3. Upload all required documents.
  4. Submit your application before the deadline.

The NPSC has urged applicants to ignore fake adverts circulating on social media, stressing that only official announcements on the NPSC website, national newspapers, and verified government accounts should be trusted.

What This Means for Applicants

This year’s recruitment introduces strict timelines, a fully digital system, and greater transparency. The reforms are designed to ensure that only qualified candidates make it through.

If you have been aspiring to join the service, the opportunity is here. Start preparing your documents, maintain physical fitness, and be ready for the September recruitment window.
