Police Probe Officer’s Mysterious Burial at Church Compound

Authorities in Migori County are investigating a bizarre case involving the burial of a police officer at a church compound under unusual circumstances.

Constable Dan Ayoo Obura, a General Service Unit (GSU) officer based in Nairobi, passed away on March 27 after reportedly falling ill. However, what followed has raised suspicions among both law enforcement and the public.

A Strange Turn of Events

According to reports, Obura fell sick while at home, prompting his wife to take him to a church in Opapo village for prayers. However, he passed away before they arrived at the church, reaching the premises at around 8 PM.

Shockingly, the next day, his wife—without informing authorities of the location—obtained a burial permit from a local assistant chief. With the help of a small group of church members, she proceeded to bury the officer within the church compound, citing religious rites.

Family Raises Concerns

The unusual burial has sparked outrage and concern among Obura’s family members. One relative alleged that the officer had been radicalized by the church, an issue they had previously reported to authorities.

Obura’s father had earlier raised alarm over his son’s involvement with the religious group, prompting a police visit to the church. However, it remains unclear whether any action was taken at the time.

Police Consider Exhumation

As suspicions grow over the circumstances surrounding Obura’s death, investigators are contemplating exhuming his body for an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.

A police source confirmed that, if necessary, they will seek a court order to conduct the exhumation as part of their probe.

Authorities have assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to uncover the truth behind the mysterious burial and determine whether any foul play was involved.

The case continues to raise more questions than answers, leaving Migori residents on edge as they await the findings of the ongoing investigation.
