Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has set his sights on Kenya’s top seat, declaring his ambition to become a historic president who will surpass the legacy of former President Mwai Kibaki. Known for his outspoken nature and charismatic personality, Salasya made bold claims about his leadership potential, promising a transformative era for Kenyans if elected.
Speaking during a recent public address, Salasya criticised the government’s handling of healthcare under the Social Health Authority (SHA), calling it a “scam” that continues to fail Kenyans. “Right now, people are dying in hospitals, and the healthcare system has collapsed. SHA is a scam. If it worked, Kenyans would be rushing to register, even if it was only available in Nairobi,” he argued.
Salasya, who describes himself as the only opposition leader in Kakamega County, urged President William Ruto to appoint him as an advisor, claiming that the current leadership is misleading the head of state. “I told the president to appoint me as his advisor because those around him are misleading him. Healthcare is collapsing, and Kenyans deserve better,” he stated.
The MP emphasised that accessible and quality healthcare should be a top priority for any government, accusing current leaders of neglecting essential services. His passionate advocacy reflects his broader vision for Kenya—one rooted in social welfare, transparency, and development.
When asked about his presidential ambitions, Salasya remained coy about the exact timing but expressed strong confidence in his leadership capabilities. “I am unique, lovable, comical, intelligent, and blessed with the wisdom of God. I will go to heaven after serving my country diligently. I will be the best president Kenya has ever had since independence—outshining even the late Mwai Kibaki—because of my good heart and commitment to serving everyone,” he declared.
Salasya envisions himself as a president whose legacy will be remembered for centuries. “I will be a historic president who will never be forgotten even 1,000 years from now,” he added.
While he has yet to officially announce his candidacy or timeline for the presidential bid, his sharp criticism of the current administration and unwavering confidence signal a growing ambition that could shake up Kenya’s political landscape.
As he continues to challenge government policies and advocate for better governance, many are left wondering: could Peter Salasya be the unexpected force in Kenya’s future presidential race?
