One Police Officer Shot Dead, Two Injured in Nakuru Gang Attack

A police officer was shot dead and two others injured during a gang attack in Nakuru’s Free Area in the early hours of Monday morning.

According to police reports, the three officers, who were attached to Bondeni Police Station, were on routine patrol at around 1:29 a.m. when they were ambushed by armed assailants. The fatal incident occurred near a popular shopping center in the Free Area neighborhood.

One officer succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the other two were rushed to Nakuru Level Five Hospital for treatment. The hospital confirmed that the injured officers are in stable condition.

Nakuru County Commissioner confirmed the arrest of several suspects in connection with the attack. Authorities also recovered an AK-47 rifle believed to have been used during the shooting.

“We commend our security forces for their swift response. Investigations are underway, and we will ensure justice is served,” the commissioner said.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but security has been heightened in Nakuru and surrounding areas.

This incident adds to growing concerns over rising insecurity in parts of the country, especially involving heavily armed gangs targeting law enforcement officers.

Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as investigations continue.
