N’Golo Kante Visits Family in Mali, Buys Luxurious Home

Former Chelsea and France midfield dynamo N’Golo Kante has once again traveled to Mali for a short holiday during the March international break. With France set to face Croatia in a UEFA Nations League doubleheader, Kante was not included in Didier Deschamps’ squad, giving him the perfect opportunity to reconnect with his roots.

A Journey Back to His Ancestral Home

Born in France to Malian parents who migrated in 1980, Kante has maintained strong ties with his family’s homeland. His latest visit to Mali is not just about relaxation but also about honoring his heritage. Reports indicate that the soft-spoken star recently purchased a lavish home in Mali, further solidifying his connection to the West African nation.

This is not Kante’s first visit to Mali. In 2022, he traveled to the capital, Bamako, where he visited the graves of his late father and brother. Kante lost his father when he was just 11 years old, and in 2018, shortly before the World Cup, he tragically lost his older sibling, Niama, to a heart attack.

Mali’s Attempt to Recruit Kante

Before he became a World Cup-winning midfield powerhouse with France, Mali attempted to convince Kante to switch allegiances ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. Then-national team coach Alain Giresse admitted they reached out to the player’s representatives, hoping to secure his services.

“It’s impossible to overlook a player of such quality, and we’ve already approached his representatives. Kante will add a lot to any country, but my big hope is that it will be the national team of Mali,” Giresse was quoted as saying by BBC Sports.

However, Kante ultimately opted to play for France, where he became a key figure in their 2018 World Cup-winning squad and one of the most beloved footballers globally.

Kante’s Humble and Giving Nature

Despite his wealth and fame, Kante remains one of football’s most humble figures. Known for his reserved personality and generosity, he has been involved in various charitable activities both in France and Mali. His decision to invest in Mali reflects his commitment to giving back to the country that holds deep significance in his family’s history.

With his latest trip, fans and well-wishers in Mali have once again been reminded of Kante’s deep respect for his roots. Whether in the blue of France or the streets of Bamako, the midfield maestro continues to leave a mark wherever he goes.
