Mombasa Cop Stabbed by Partner After Night of Heavy Drinking
A police officer based at the Mombasa High Court is nursing serious injuries after he was reportedly stabbed by his partner during a domestic altercation in the Chaani area of Changamwe.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred late Friday night after the couple returned home from a night of heavy drinking. Neighbors told local authorities that the two had been arguing loudly before the situation escalated into violence.
Alarmed by the noise, concerned residents forced their way into the house where they found the officer lying in a pool of blood, visibly drunk and struggling to speak. He had sustained several stab wounds.
The injured officer was initially rushed to a nearby clinic by neighbors before being transferred to a larger medical facility in the Mikindani–Jomvu area for specialized treatment.
The woman, who is believed to be the officer’s partner, reportedly fled the scene moments after the incident and has not been seen since. Police have launched a manhunt for her and are treating her as the prime suspect in the attack.
“We believe the couple had been drinking before the violence broke out,” said an officer involved in the investigation. “We are still trying to establish the root cause of the disagreement.”
The incident has sparked fresh concern over rising domestic violence cases linked to substance abuse and unaddressed mental health issues among both civilians and security personnel.
Authorities have urged members of the public to report signs of domestic tension before such situations escalate to life-threatening incidents.
