Molo Tragedy: Form Three Student Shot Dead During Protests
A Form Three student from Elburgon D.E.B. Secondary School was tragically shot dead during protests near the Elburgon police station in Molo. The protests erupted following the mysterious death of Geoffrey Ngugi, a well-known mechanic whose body was discovered after his disappearance on Sunday, March 9.
Protests Turn Deadly
According to an NTV report, local residents took to the streets to express their anger over Ngugi’s death, demanding justice and answers from authorities. The demonstrations quickly escalated, leading to confrontations between the protestors and police officers.
Eyewitnesses claim that during the chaos, the police allegedly opened fire, striking the student who was among the crowd. His body remained on the roadside for hours before being taken to the Molo Sub-County Hospital morgue.
Rising Insecurity in Molo
Residents have expressed growing concerns over insecurity in the region, stating that cases of violence and crime have been on the rise. They are now calling on the government to take immediate action to protect citizens and ensure justice for the victims.
“There is no security here. Yesterday, we caught the youths responsible for the current death. They were disciplined very well, but one of them instructed his group to move elsewhere. That’s when the police arrived and started dispersing us,” a local resident told the press.
Demands for Justice
The killing of the student has sparked outrage, with community members demanding a thorough investigation into both his death and the circumstances surrounding Geoffrey Ngugi’s murder. Many are urging the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) to intervene and hold those responsible accountable.
As tensions remain high in Molo, residents continue to press for justice, fearing that without immediate action, insecurity in the area will only worsen.
