Moi University to Auction Cattle, Donkeys and Dogs to the Public
Moi University in Eldoret has announced plans to auction a range of animals, including cattle, donkeys, and dogs, in a public sale slated for June 24, 2025.
In an official notice, Vice Chancellor Prof. Kiplagat Kotut stated that the university will conduct a public auction at the farm yard located at the main campus in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County.
Members of the public have been invited to view the animals starting Friday, June 20, through to Monday, June 23, ahead of the auction day.
Among the animals listed for sale are bulls and bull calves priced between Ksh50,000 and Ksh70,000 each. Additionally, German Shepherd dogs will be auctioned at Ksh40,000 each. The number of donkeys available for sale has not been specified.
The university has also included a variety of vehicles in the upcoming sale. However, further details on the types and conditions of the vehicles were not provided in the initial notice.
The auction is part of an ongoing exercise by public institutions to offload surplus or obsolete assets as a cost-saving and revenue-generating measure.
Prospective buyers are encouraged to visit the university’s farm for viewing and are advised to come prepared for open bidding on the scheduled date.
