Love Turns Lethal: Bomet Man Strangles Wife, Flees Scene
Police in Sotik, Bomet County, have launched a manhunt for a suspect accused of brutally killing his wife before fleeing the scene.
According to Bomet County Police Commandant Edward Imbwaga, the lifeless body of the deceased, Beatrice Ng’eno, 38, was discovered inside their home with blood oozing from her mouth and nose—suggesting a violent end.
Preliminary police reports indicate that the suspect, Peter Ng’eno, had engaged in a heated argument with his wife before allegedly locking the house from the inside and strangling her.
Area assistant chief Leonard Chirchir reported that neighbours heard a chilling cry for help coming from the couple’s house moments before the grim discovery.
“We cannot yet confirm whether she was struck on the head or strangled to death. What we do know is there was visible blood from her mouth and nose. The deceased was a well-known secondary school teacher in this area,” said Chirchir.
Following the tragic incident, the suspect fled, and efforts by authorities to locate him are ongoing.
Police officers who visited the scene commenced investigations and moved Beatrice Ng’eno’s body to the Kapkatet Hospital morgue for postmortem examination.
Residents of the area have been left shocked and saddened by the murder, calling for swift justice.
This tragic case adds to the growing list of domestic violence incidents reported in Kenya, prompting renewed calls for community vigilance and support mechanisms to address family conflicts before they escalate into violence.
