Lake Region Business Summit 2025 to Unlock KSh 3 Trillion in High-Impact Investments
KISUMU – The Lake Region is gearing up to become a hub of transformative investments as the 2025 Business Ecosystems Summit (BES) prepares to welcome investors, business leaders, and policy makers from across Kenya and beyond.
Set to take place in Kisumu from August 6–8, the BES 2025 is expected to catalyze investments worth over KSh 3 trillion, with a strong focus on high-impact projects across the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB).
Victor Nyagaya, CEO of LREB, underscored the summit’s focus on strategic public-private partnerships (PPPs), regional cooperation, and sustainable development. “PPPs are key to achieving our development goals,” he said. “We are creating a conducive investment environment with harmonised policy frameworks, streamlined approvals, and strong accountability mechanisms.”
He called on investors to channel capital into transformative sectors such as clean energy, climate-smart irrigation, circular waste solutions, innovation hubs, and the blue economy.
Kisumu County Deputy Governor Dr. Mathew Ochieng Owilo affirmed the region’s investment readiness: “Kisumu is ready for business. With Lake Victoria as a gateway to East Africa, we are strategically positioned to grow regional trade, attract global capital, and foster innovation across logistics, tourism, agribusiness, and blue economy sectors.”
Organised by The IMC People, BES 2025 will bring together stakeholders from government, private sector, MSMEs, financial institutions, development partners, and innovators for three days of deal-making, exhibitions, and policy dialogue.
Building on the momentum of BES 2023, which secured over USD 400 million in investment deals and witnessed a landmark USD 3 billion MoU between the Government of Kenya and Afreximbank, the upcoming summit aims to scale up investment flows into both private and public enterprises.
“BES 2025 is about designing the future of business ecosystems in Africa,” said Jeanette Oromo, CEO of The IMC People. “We’re not reinventing the wheel—we’re greasing it to move faster through practical partnerships and impactful policy shifts.”
The summit is expected to be a key platform for showcasing the economic potential of western Kenya while attracting both local and international investors seeking to participate in Africa’s growth story.
