KeNHA Issues Warning After Sinkhole Disrupts Traffic on Nakuru–Kampi ya Moto Road
Motorists plying the Nakuru–Kampi ya Moto Road have been advised to exercise caution after a sinkhole suddenly emerged near Kiamunyi, approximately 1.5 kilometers from the KFA Roundabout and close to Riva Petrol Station.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) confirmed the incident in a public advisory released Wednesday morning, noting that emergency maintenance works are already underway to address the damage and restore the affected road section.
The sinkhole, which appeared unexpectedly, has disrupted traffic along one of the key routes linking Nakuru to Eldoret and Baringo. In response, KeNHA has instituted a traffic diversion and deployed police officers alongside traffic marshals to manage vehicle flow and ensure safety.
“For safety, motorists should approach the affected section with caution, adhere to the traffic signs displayed, and follow the guidance provided by the traffic marshals and police at the scene,” KeNHA stated.
While the authority did not indicate how long repairs would take, it reassured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to restore normal traffic flow as soon as possible.
Motorists are urged to plan for possible delays and consider using alternate routes where necessary until the situation is resolved.
