KDF Soldier Detained After Girlfriend’s Mysterious Death in Kitengela Lodge
A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier has been detained following the sudden death of his girlfriend at a lodging in Kitengela, Kajiado County.
The tragic incident unfolded on Friday night after the soldier had booked a room to spend private time with his 24-year-old partner. However, the night took a dark turn when the woman reportedly fell unconscious and struggled to breathe around 11 PM.
According to police, the soldier raised an alarm, prompting the caretaker of the apartments to respond. Witnesses said the soldier, with the help of another tenant who offered his car, rushed the woman to St. Paul’s Hospital in Kitengela. Sadly, she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations led by Kitengela Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) boss Joseph Indege suggest that the woman may have died from heart-related complications, although a post-mortem examination at Shalom Mortuary will determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities revealed that the soldier initially panicked after nurses at the hospital advised him to report the death to police. Instead of complying, he fled the hospital by jumping over the gate, only to later surrender himself at the Kahawa Garrison Military Police unit.
Military Police officers detained him before handing him over to the Kitengela DCI office for further interrogation. Preliminary investigations show no visible injuries on the woman’s body, although detectives are treating the matter with caution.
Cases of sudden deaths in lodgings, often linked to undiagnosed health conditions such as cardiac arrest, have been increasingly reported, police noted.
The soldier remains in custody as investigations continue.
