JKUAT Delays Certificate Issuance for 43rd Graduation Class
Graduates from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) will have to wait longer before receiving their certificates following a recent decision by the university to postpone issuance.
The announcement affects students who graduated on November 29, 2024, during JKUAT’s 43rd graduation ceremony. In a notice issued by Dr. Aggrey Wanyama, the university’s Registrar for Academic Affairs, JKUAT cited “unavoidable circumstances” as the reason behind the delay.
Schools Affected by the Postponement
The decision primarily impacts graduates from the School of Communication and Development Studies (SCDS) and the School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SOBE). These students will not be able to collect their certificates until further notice, potentially delaying job applications and other career prospects.
While the university has apologized for the inconvenience, it has not provided a specific timeline for when the certificates will be available. Instead, JKUAT has assured affected graduates that new dates will be communicated in due course.
“Reference is made to the memo dated 10th December 2024 in respect to the collection of certificates. This is to inform you that due to unavoidable circumstances, the issuance of certificates to graduates of the following schools has been postponed.
“New dates will be communicated in due course. We apologize for the inconveniences caused by this postponement,” read part of the statement.
Way Forward for Graduates
Graduates who require further clarification have been advised to contact the university through the customer service email (customercare@jkuat.ac.ke) or telephone (+254 709 715 815).
JKUAT, a renowned public university located in Juja, 36 kilometers northeast of Nairobi, has been a key institution in higher education since its establishment in 1981 with support from the Japanese government. The delay in certificate issuance raises concerns among graduates who were counting on the documents to secure employment or pursue further studies.
As affected students await further communication, many hope that JKUAT will resolve the issue swiftly to prevent prolonged delays and disruptions in their professional journeys.
