“I Will Win Again”: President Ruto Confident of 2027 Victory, Dismisses Opposition Threats
President William Ruto has exuded confidence ahead of the 2027 general elections, boldly declaring that no political rival stands a chance against him. Speaking in Runyenjes, Embu County, during his fourth day touring the Mt Kenya region, the Head of State maintained that performance—not politics—will define the next electoral battle.
“I have no doubt that I will win with a majority of votes in 2027,” Ruto stated firmly. “You elected MCAs, MPs, Senators, Governors, and myself to serve you. So, everyone should focus on doing their job. When the time comes, Kenyans will decide who is best based on performance.”
“I Will Not Fail This Test”
The President emphasized that his immediate focus remains fulfilling his mandate and delivering on promises made to Kenyans. “What I know is that I won’t fail this test—I will emerge the winner,” he added, expressing optimism that his leadership will be rewarded with renewed trust from the electorate.
Ruto Unveils New Cabinet Nominee
In a key development during the tour, President Ruto unveiled Geoffrey Ruku, the Mbeere North MP, as his nominee for Public Service Cabinet Secretary. Ruku is set to replace Justin Muturi, who was dismissed over allegations of incompetence and absenteeism.
“Now that Ruku has been endorsed by the locals, he can begin work immediately,” Ruto told the cheering crowd.
Strong Bond with Deputy President
Ruto also praised his partnership with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, asserting that their working relationship is “unbreakable.” He emphasized their joint commitment to national unity: “My deputy and I are inseparable. We are working together to unite all Kenyans.”
Development Requests from Embu Leadership
During the event, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire urged the President to invest in local infrastructure, calling for the construction of Kianjokoma and Kathageri markets and an upgrade of Runyenjes Sub-County Hospital to Level Four status, a project estimated at Sh100 million.
“Once you fulfil our requests, I will ensure that you are the best,” Governor Mbarire promised.
Ruto Defends Inspector General Against Political Neutrality Claims
Addressing criticism of Inspector General Douglas Kanja over his presence at a Nyeri rally, Ruto firmly defended the police chief, dismissing accusations of political bias.
“The IG was on official duty accompanying me on my Mt Kenya development tour,” Ruto said. “Even when the IG is not present, he is represented by many officers at our meetings. In Nyeri, we had over 300 police officers deployed, so why single out the IG?”
He urged Kenyans to focus on the government’s development agenda and avoid unnecessary political distractions.
Eyes on 2027
Ruto concluded his remarks with a powerful statement directed at his rivals: “When election time comes, we will put on our official gear and face off with others.”
As the political temperature slowly begins to rise ahead of 2027, Ruto’s message is clear: he’s not backing down—and he’s already gearing up for a rematch.
