Fuel Prices Surge by Over KSh 8 in Latest EPRA Review

Kenyans are set to face yet another financial burden as fuel prices have been increased significantly in the latest monthly review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).

According to the statement released by EPRA on Saturday, the prices of Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene will rise by KSh 8.99, KSh 8.67, and KSh 9.65 per litre respectively, beginning Monday, July 15, 2025. The new prices will remain in effect until August 14, 2025.

This adjustment will see motorists in Nairobi paying KSh 186.31 per litre of petrol, KSh 171.58 for diesel, and KSh 156.58 for kerosene. In Mombasa, the prices will be slightly lower—KSh 183.02 for petrol, KSh 168.30 for diesel, and KSh 153.29 for kerosene.

EPRA attributed the steep price hike to an increase in the average landing cost of imported fuel products. Data from the regulator shows that the average landed cost for Super Petrol surged by 6.45%, rising from KSh 76,436 per cubic metre in May 2025 to KSh 81,169 in June 2025.

Similarly, Diesel prices rose by 6.27% to KSh 79,656 per cubic metre, up from KSh 75,139. Kerosene witnessed the highest jump, increasing by 6.95% to KSh 75,805 per cubic metre from KSh 73,685 the previous month.

The announcement is expected to draw concern from households and businesses alike, as higher fuel prices typically lead to an overall rise in the cost of goods and services.

This fuel price adjustment comes at a time when Kenyans are already grappling with a rising cost of living, further straining the economy and household budgets.
