Forex Bureau Staff Brutally Murdered and Dumped in Kajiado Thicket

Police have launched investigations into the gruesome murder of a forex bureau staff member whose body was discovered in a thicket at the Kichinjio area in Namanga, Kajiado County.

The victim, identified as Sebastian Kiptoo Birech, was an employee at Namanga Forex Bureau and had been working there since February 2024. His body was found on May 29, stuffed in a sack and abandoned beside the road.

According to police, the body bore visible injuries to the head and neck, indicating a possible violent struggle before his death. The deceased was dressed in jeans and a T-shirt, which were soaked in blood. Investigators believe Birech may have been killed elsewhere and the body later dumped in the bush to cover up the crime.

“He was last seen alive on May 28,” a police source told Nairobian. “We suspect foul play, and we are working to establish the motive behind the killing.”

The motive remains unclear, but authorities are not ruling out possible links to his work or personal life. The body has been taken to the mortuary for autopsy as detectives pursue leads.

Meanwhile, the country continues to reel from a spate of killings reported across various counties.

In Kamandio sub-location, Kitui County, 20-year-old Benson Kilonzi succumbed to stab wounds inflicted by an individual known to him. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who fled the scene after the attack.

Elsewhere in Masaba North, Nyamira County, a 14-year-old boy was found dead in his home after reportedly being beaten over allegations of theft. He had been accused of stealing three mobile phones and Sh1,000. Police are treating the incident as murder and have begun investigations.

In a separate case in Naivasha, tragedy struck at a quarry in Kwa Makara – Kinamba Sub Location, where 51-year-old Simon Manyara died after a massive stone collapsed on him during excavation. The body was retrieved from beneath the debris and taken to the mortuary.

Authorities have raised concerns over a rising trend in murder cases across the country, with up to eight such incidents reported daily. While many cases remain under investigation, others are still pending in court.

As the nation marks Madaraka Day, these incidents serve as a grim reminder of the urgent need to strengthen security, enforce justice, and address underlying societal issues contributing to the violence.
