Easter Disco Turns Tragic as Two Electrocuted in Oyugis Nightclub
Two young men were tragically electrocuted during an Easter Friday disco night at a nightclub in Ragama estate, Oyugis Town.
According to police reports, the victims were dancing in an open, rain-soaked field inside the nightclub when they accidentally stepped on a live generator wire powering the music system. The wet ground amplified the electric shock, killing both men instantly.
A third individual, a woman, sustained serious injuries after stepping on the same exposed wire. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she is currently receiving treatment and reported to be in stable condition.
Rachuonyo South Sub County police commander Philemon Saera confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing. Authorities have summoned the nightclub manager, the disco operator, and the individual who hired them for questioning.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Rachuonyo South Sub County Hospital mortuary for postmortem examinations. The tragedy has raised concerns over safety standards and electrical installations in public entertainment venues.
