Dark Allegations Surface Against Slain Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were By Brenda Wanga
Four days after the death of Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo Were, chilling revelations are surfacing about his controversial past. Multiple constituents are now coming forward with disturbing allegations that paint a dark portrait of the late legislator.
Edward Odhiambo, a resident of Kasipul, recounted a violent encounter on April 28, 2025, during his cousin’s funeral. According to Odhiambo, he was brutally attacked in broad daylight while the MP looked on. “Faruk came at me with a machete from about 400 feet away. He struck me, and then the MP’s goons descended on me. I was beaten like a snake,” Odhiambo recounted, showing the blood-stained clothes he wore that day.
Bobby, another constituent, alleged that he and his brother were similarly assaulted at a separate funeral under the MP’s watch. These incidents raise serious concerns about the MP’s alleged use of violence and intimidation.
In another distressing account, the family of Dotty Apondi claimed a long-standing ordeal dating back to 2010. Dotty, then 38, was reportedly lured by the MP to Meru with the promise of a job. Three weeks after starting the supposed employment, she vanished. Her family’s efforts to locate her were thwarted by threats and non-cooperation from law enforcement. The MP, they claim, even threatened police officers who attempted to search his Meru residence for clues.
Dotty’s disappearance devastated her family. Her mother died last year, heartbroken and ill from years of unanswered questions. Her siblings remain determined to uncover the truth, despite the MP’s death.
“He did those things because he was in power. Maybe he terrorized many as the area MP. He embraced hooliganism,” Odhiambo added.
While these allegations have yet to be formally investigated, they cast a shadow over the legacy of a man whose public service now faces intense scrutiny. Constituents and human rights advocates are calling for thorough inquiries into the claims to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
