Car Stolen as Fan Enjoys Kenya vs Gabon Clash at Nyayo Stadium
A football fan’s joy of watching Kenya take on Gabon in the World Cup qualifiers turned into distress after his car was stolen from a roadside parking spot near Nyayo Stadium on Sunday evening.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the victim had parked his silver Toyota IST, registration number KBN 093B, along Kisauni Road behind Nairobi West Hospital at approximately 3:40 PM before heading into the packed stadium. However, upon returning to the spot shortly after 7:00 PM, he found his car missing.
Shocked and frustrated, the man immediately reported the theft at Akila Police Station in Lang’ata. Law enforcement officers have since launched an investigation to recover the stolen vehicle.
This incident underscores the rising cases of vehicle theft in Nairobi, particularly around major event venues where criminals take advantage of distracted owners.
Another Vehicle Stolen in Juja
In a separate incident, police in Juja are investigating the disappearance of a white Toyota Axio from a residential house in Matangi, near Rurii Primary School, Kimbo. The car’s owner had parked it outside the house on Saturday night, only to wake up the next morning and find it missing.
DCI has urged motorists to be extra cautious when choosing parking spots, especially in unsecured areas. Car theft syndicates have become more brazen, targeting unsuspecting individuals who assume their vehicles are safe.
Investigations into both cases are ongoing, and the police are calling on anyone with information regarding the stolen vehicles to report to the nearest police station.
Motorists are advised to invest in additional security measures such as GPS trackers, steering locks, and parking in designated secure areas to reduce the risk of theft.
