Kenya Forest Service Opens 62 Business Opportunities as Firms Invited to Register
Businesses across Kenya have been given an opportunity to supply goods, provide services and undertake works for the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) over the next two financial years.
The Kenya Forest Service has opened registration for suppliers and service providers seeking to do business with the agency during the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 financial years.
The procurement exercise, issued under Tender Reference No. KFS/02/2026-2027, covers 62 categories spanning the supply of goods, professional services and construction-related works.
The opportunities are divided into three broad groups: open-category goods, open-category services and works, and categories reserved for businesses registered under the government’s Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) programme.
The notice could provide opportunities for businesses operating in sectors ranging from construction and engineering to information technology, consultancy, transport, catering, printing, agriculture and environmental services.
KFS tender deadline
According to the registration notice, interested businesses must submit their completed documents by Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
The opening of the registration documents is scheduled to take place immediately after the deadline at the KFS headquarters main boardroom in Karura, Nairobi. Applicants or their authorised representatives may attend the opening.
Businesses seeking to participate must also be registered on the government’s electronic procurement platform at tenders.go.ke.
Registration documents for the open categories can be obtained free of charge through the KFS website or the Public Procurement Information Portal.
Completed applications must be placed in sealed, plain envelopes clearly indicating the tender title, category number and description. They should be addressed to the Chief Conservator of Forests and delivered to KFS headquarters in Karura, off Kiambu Road, Nairobi.
19 opportunities listed for suppliers of goods
The open-category goods section contains 19 opportunities, creating potential business for firms supplying a wide range of products.
Among the categories are office furniture and fittings, hardware and electrical equipment, staff and forest ranger uniforms, sports equipment, musical and band equipment, telecommunications equipment and firefighting equipment.
KFS is also seeking suppliers of biodegradable seedling tubes and bags, food rations, fresh and dry foodstuffs, surveying and mapping equipment, camping equipment and fabricated uni-huts.
Other categories cover construction materials, software and licences, tree seeds and seedlings, agricultural seeds, bottled drinking water, Jet A1 fuel, medical supplies and equipment.
The range of categories reflects the breadth of goods required to support KFS operations, including forestry activities, field operations, offices, infrastructure and emergency response.
30 service and works categories
A further 30 categories have been set aside for service providers and contractors.
The opportunities include legal services, courier services, fumigation and disinfection, air ticketing, vehicle and motorcycle repairs, boat maintenance, insurance and consultancy.
Businesses involved in public relations, media consultancy, construction consultancy, event management, asset branding, auctioneering and asset valuation can also apply under the relevant categories.
KFS is additionally seeking firms capable of undertaking building and civil works, accountable and security printing, CCTV maintenance, air-conditioning repairs, environmental audits and environmental impact assessment consultancy.
Other listed opportunities include the hire of construction equipment, construction services, conference facilities, financial audits, legal audits, governance audits, generator and water-pump servicing, firefighting equipment servicing and aircraft maintenance.
Businesses applying for more than one open category must submit a separate registration document for each category.
KFS warned that applications combining several categories in one registration document will be rejected.
AGPO firms get 13 reserved opportunities
The registration exercise also contains 13 categories reserved exclusively for businesses registered under AGPO.
These include suppliers of general office stationery, computer and photocopier consumables, computer equipment and accessories, office equipment, cleaning materials, foodstuffs and beverages.
Reserved service categories include office and toilet cleaning, calling-card and scratch-card provision, general printing, promotional-item printing, printable-material design, video and audio production and garbage collection.
Businesses already registered under the reserved categories will retain their registration provided their AGPO certificates and other statutory documents remain valid.
KFS also indicated that newly registered AGPO businesses that are not currently included in the relevant list may submit valid certificates to the Supply Chain Management Department at KFS headquarters for consideration.
What businesses need to know
The tender provides opportunities for both established firms and qualifying businesses operating in specialised sectors.
However, eligibility will depend on meeting the requirements for the particular category, including the relevant statutory documentation and, where applicable, AGPO registration.
Businesses interested in the exercise should therefore review the official registration documents carefully before submitting applications.
With the deadline set for October 21, prospective suppliers and contractors have a limited window to complete the paperwork and ensure their submissions comply with KFS requirements.
