KQ Flight to Dar es Salaam Makes Emergency Return to JKIA After Mid-Air Medical Scare

A Kenya Airways (KQ) flight headed to Dar es Salaam was forced to make an emergency return to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Sunday, April 27, after a passenger experienced a medical emergency.

In a statement, KQ confirmed that the flight safely landed back at JKIA at 1:40 pm, where medical personnel were on standby to provide immediate assistance.

“Passengers were briefed and provided with guidance in line with health and safety regulations. Upon attending to the emergency, the flight was cleared for takeoff to Dar es Salaam at 15:54hrs,” KQ said.

The airline emphasised that all necessary health and safety protocols were strictly followed, ensuring the well-being of passengers and crew throughout the incident.

“The safety and well-being of our guests and crew remain our highest priority. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate the patience and understanding of our guests during this period,” KQ added.

Although the airline did not disclose specific details about the medical emergency, the swift action ensured that disruption was minimised and the journey continued smoothly.

The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable challenges airlines face and KQ’s readiness to prioritise passenger safety at all times.
