Mike Sonko has asked men to desist from beating their wives even when they arrive at their homesteads late in the night. Sonko said that wives should be allowed to attend to their issues and even if they stay out all night, it shouldn’t cause their husbands to physically assault them.
The former Nairobi governor was reacting to a sad story where a 29-year-old woman was thoroughly beaten by her husband in Gutharai 45 after she came home late in the night.
According to reports the lady sustained serious head injuries after the husband hit her severally with a blunt object. The deceased identified as Florence Kaari died while receiving treatment in the hospital.
“Men at times some of us are so stupid. Don’t you know in this era wives aren’t supposed to be beaten even if they come home late from their Chamas or events? Even if they want to attend Keshas just let them go to avoid any trouble.” Sonko advised.
