A former commissioner at the independent electoral and boundaries commission (IEBC) Roselyn Akombe has come out to release a statement after the recent dramatic developments at the country’s electoral body that is led by Wafula Chebukati.
In a carefully worded statement on social media, the self-exiled former IEBC staffer Dr. Roselyn Akombe who flew out of Kenya following the disputed 2017 general elections has said that Kenyans at least know the ongoings behind the scene in the electoral body.
“At least now you know how things go down,” she wrote in recent statements by Cherera and Chebukati-led rival groups at IEBC.
Akombe has been on record calling for reforms in the electoral management body and she seemed to have been vindicated following the recent split in IEBC. Chebukati and his team of commissioners have claimed that government functionaries wanted to interfere with the polls as Cherera and her team accuse the Chebukati team of allegedly compromising the integrity of the polls.
