Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has recently revealed why politicians are reluctant to become vice Presidents, as the race for the 2022 General elections heats up.
For Instance, in OKA, the four Presidential aspirants are yet to decide on who among them would run for the presidency as the rest help in forming the Government.
Raila’s attempt to coerce former NASA leaders such as Mudavadi and Kalonzo to become his running mates appears to have failed spectacularly.
Ruto had been predicted to easily acquire a running mate from the Mt Kenya region. However, the prime candidates, Moses Kuria, Martha Karua, and Mwangi Kiunjuri have all vowed to stand by themselves.
Hence the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator sought to explain why Kalonzo was reluctant to reunite with Raila, as he seemed to also hint at Ruto’s troubles, with acquiring a suitable running mate in Mt Kenya.
According to Murkomen, Ruto’s wars with Uhuru had led politicians to start fearing to occupy the Deputy President’s office.
This was due to the shaming that the DP had allegedly gone through under Uhuru’s leadership.
Indeed, Moses Kuria himself revealed the need for the Mt Kenya region leaders to beware before joining new political alliances.
He argued that the region could end up being spectators in the 2022 fight for power hence, it would be left with little, to no bargaining power.
“It is not just that the DP is embarrassed but the office of the president has been put into jeopardy.” “Politicians are now reluctant to deputise others.” Murkomen said.
