A 22-year-old suspect accused of killing his parents, tow siblings and a farmhand was on Thursday, April 15 presented in court.
Lawrence Warunge, a second-year student at Mt Kenya University was charged with five counts.
He appeared virtually before Kiambu High Court judge Mary Kasango.
The court was told that Warunge allegedly killed his father, Nicholas Warunge, mother Anne, brothers Christian and Maxwell, and domestic worker James Kinyanjui on January 5 night.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Lady justice Kasango directed the suspect to be remanded at Nairobi Industrial Area Prison, awaiting the pre-trial hearing scheduled for May 11, 2021.
Warunge was first arraigned on Tuesday, January 26, before Kiambu Law Courts chief magistrate Patricia Gichohi but it was discovered he was mentally unfit to stand trial.
Days after his arrest, Warunge confessed to killing his parents and siblings so that he could live in peace with his girlfriend.
He noted that the killing was inspired by British TV drama ‘Killing Eve’.
He said he had planned to clear his family about three times and succeeded on January 2.
